I'm quite respectful of this columnist, but her skepticism about Ms. Nixon's
candidacy - a mix of ""could anybody topple Andy?"" and ""Is Ms. Nixon
qualified?"" - is undercut (basically demolished) by an inane ""AND FINALLY""
section.
That is, how could an intelligent columnist re-read (if she did) this

I'm quite respectful of this columnist, but her skepticism about Ms. Nixon's
candidacy - a mix of ""could anybody topple Andy?"" and ""Is Ms. Nixon
qualified?"" - is undercut (basically demolished) by an inane ""AND FINALLY""
section.
That is, how could an intelligent columnist re-read (if she did) this
summation and not wince?
[paraphrasing] How can a woman who was involved with a TV program that focused
on NY as a dream place for rich people ... be taken seriously when she zeroes
in on things like income inequality?
Flash - most people can't tell you what last year's Oscar winners were all
about. Sex and the City has receded into ""ancient history."" PLUS, the people
who have been most left out of Andy's pay-to-play ethos (yes, that's almost
every person of color, plus most young people of whatever race) weren't really
in the SATC viewership.
But most of all, surely Ms. Bellafante has heard the line ""Takes one to know
one."" Apart from Ms. Nixon having not-glittery roots which she has not
forgotten, she is in an ideal position to see how NYS government - run in
unbelievably high percentages by crooks and self-serving pols - rewards those
who give it money and punishes those who aren't in a position to.
Andy ""tacked left"" for the same reason he's done everything else in his life
- self-interest. That's not good enough.
And Ms. Bellafante's (like Ms. Quinn's) ill-considered sniping is surely not
one of her better journalistic decisions!
