I happened upon your book after seeing this exquisite cover posted in another thread.

Never have I been so glad for happenstance.

Coup D'etat delivers is a solid story on vivid imagery and powerful content. It begs, as I shamelessly do, for another installment.

I liked the story. I liked how it switched from perspectives of the prophetess to the chieftain. I liked how by doing this you were able to express their inner feelings and slowly unravel the story behind their grief and the reason as to why they were training their daughter so hard. What I would have liked to see was maybe more showing versus telling. For example instead of having the father say he didn't enjoy causing his daughter pain you could maybe write a fight scene in during one of the training sessions between the father and his daughter where he hesitates to hit her or refuses to meet her eyes after sparing. Little bodily expressions like that tip off the reader that the father feels ashamed or disappointed in his actions. Also maybe include some physical descriptions of the character. I'm not sure what the characters look like in this story. However, this all depends on you. Some authors don't write descriptions to allow the reader to make their own image of the characters. If you're one of those kind of authors then just ignore what I just said lol. Other than that I really loved your story and would like to read more of it :)

The internal struggles of each are set down very realistically - at the same time setting up the rest of the story.

A solid scene.
