So if I am white but my origins are from South Africa or Canada and that goes
back 150 years am I still lumped in under ""White""? Is Spanish Europe
considered ""White"" or ""Hispanic""? How far back to you have to go to
determine who settled where and what defines ""race""? Should not be based on
whether or not there is a sufficient number of people in a particular grouping
that they should have their own category which is where this seems to be
heading. And to the author's own point, if a person is of a mixed background
which category do they fit? Still do not understand everyone qualifying ex-
President Obama as African American when he is 50% White and 50% African.
50/50 is an even split or did I miss a change in math that says one 50% can be
greater or less than another 50%?

Too much effort being placed on trying to address every little difference to
make some group happy. Count the people, stop the rest of this nonsense.
