Howard Richard Deacon III (Rick Deacon) is scheduled to be at the same environmental conference as Audry Bruchenhaus--and she is dreading bumping into into him. Their last encounter was a little embarrassing, and all she wants is to raise money for her Africa animmal rescue trip. But her best seller is a wolf tee shirt featuring none other than the wolf whom she had rescued several winters ago on Deacon land--which draws in the kooks.

Rick has been representing his father at these conferences since he was 18 and he is now a pro at it. But these days he brings along friends for security. This time he brought Randon, who needs help in his internship while at veterinary college. He also invited Matthew Calamori and Tom Brown to help him out with security.

The usual players are at these conferences, from hunters to the occasional supernatural creature… in this case the Wolverton pack who are attendees also scouting out to find Rick. Daisy MacTire and the others want to draw in him back to the pack, and they believe the booth is the best place to wait for him.
