I've had to devise an entire draconic language for this book - originally, I used the draconic available on line through the D&D sites, but since it's copyright protected, I had to come up with my own words. I still have to make substitutions in later chapters, but when I finally do, I'll publish this.

Thank you! And great observation. I've been trying to work on that, as a matter of fact, expanding those chapters and heightening the level of conflict. I wasn't sure that was the right way to go, but your comments have confirmed that it is. Thank you so much, and thanks for taking the time not only to read the story, but to leave such a fantastic comment! ')

The chapter titles are words in the draconic language and simply mean "One," "Two," "Three," etc.

The biggest conflict I tried to convey was the danger they were in of being discovered and hunted. The bad guy who tried to get my main character eaten by the dragon at the beginning of the book is the biggest threat - if he finds out she's alive, he'll be out for her blood.

The other conflicts were finding their daughter a husband, teaching the son to shape-shift and the risks it presented to his existence, and the fact that my main character was going to get old and die, unlike her dragon husband.

Perhaps I could have someone actually discover their cave who isn't friendly, and report them or something. The problem with that is, I want them to be able to stay in that cave until the end of the book. In Part II, centuries have gone by but the Strachana (which means "dragon-kin") are still around, only now they live in urban centers, drive cars, go to school, etc. while in shape-shifted form. I'm several chapters into that part, and will begin posting it fairly soon once I've completed a number of other projects I have.

Thanks again - this was very helpful! By the way, can you give me specifics on the things that "slipped through?" I need to know so I can correct them.

No; it isn't quite finished. I had to stop to work on something closer to completion for publishing. It's definitely near the top of my list of books to finish, though.
