First of all: The story is fully written, and another classic. It fails due the male protagonist being an overtly whining, spoiled mainstream sissy, princess snowflake. Such makes the dialogues boring, as few would really care about shallow characters, I know myself making the mistakes, got plenty of critics. Some effort and this story could be 'modernized' by switching the figures, from old 70's horror movies of last century, to nowadays.
What is completely missing, is an unique streak. Another author so fanatic about playing by the rules, that no individuality goes beyond clichè. Sadly so. The polished version of the story, a LBGT variant, and one NOT relying on supernatural elements, all could be spun from the original yarn...
