Indelible
Indelible:
1. (of ink or pen) Making marks that cannot be removed.
2. Not able to be forgotten or removed.

Not exactly a 'natural' disaster but more of a 'national' disaster.

I agree with everyone this was a very powerful!

It was a day of infamy. A day when innocence was lost for this country and our young people. We were no longer naive to our world.

You have touched on what so many people felt that day and feel around the world," I was no longer me. I was one in millions...I if felt so utterly small."

This was a paradigm shift for many of us.

Wow! This is one powerful story, especially coming from one who was so young when the tragedy happened. When i first read your story, I thought "I can only imagine how something like that would affect someone so young.' Then I remembered that I was in a classroom when the news of JFK's assassination reached me. Like you, I was confused at first, watching the teachers crying (Grown-ups didn't cry at that time). Then, the... mehr anzeigen

I remember before 9/11 happened and in school we had to try and find someone who was alive for the JFK shooting or Pearl Harbor to interview. Someday, I might be that person interviewed by my grandbabies about 9/11. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the kind comments.

Had to read it once again, as I said before, I saw a lot of it go down and it was a stressful day for everyone in NY. It's soothing to read this again and to try to recall those memories in a different light

Thanks for coming back for round too. Still watching documentaries on the day, I can't imagine what it would've been like to be so close to it all.

It was hard to understand...I was on the 4th grade and there was so much security all over the 5 boroughs afterwards, especially in the airports. It felt like lock down for a bit.

It's crazy to think of what we doing the day the US was attacked. It's a hard memory to relive but it's important to remember. Thank you for sharing.

Another day that will live in infamy.
This memorial piece strikes home in so many ways because you put the images into words so professionally--I hope that word is appropriate--and so personally. I was not in your school, but my own reactions were exactly like yours. As a published work, Indelible is like an editorial written for one of the nation's best newspapers; poignant and hitting the mark.
On a human level, it... mehr anzeigen

'I was no longer me. I was one in millions.' This says it all. We were all united through this one dreadful event.
Well presented Jess.
