I too know people who adopted Buddhism because they had the mistaken belief
that it was a religion immune from negative human behaviors. I could not
believe the naiveté of these folks, some of whom went to our country's best
universities. They were well meaning, but blind. And I wonder if they would
have become Buddhists at all if they knew that this religion was as vulnerable
as any other to humanity in all its forms.
