I wonder whether Anonymous can afford to take a pay cut in exchange for
his/her mental health. After a masters in my 40s and working a side job and a
lot of volunteer hours in the years since, one of my volunteer gigs is turning
into a (low) paid but much more fun job. I’m making plans to leave my
demeaning, soul-sucking, good-paying job by the end of this year but to work
in one of the coolest jobs ever. I’m 55 and will keep going another 8 or 10
years. So if Anon can spare the time for a volunteer job in his or her dream
field, it may turn into a job opportunity.
