Thanks for the vote of confidence. I've known several women who were every bit as diaboloical as Phillip's mother (i.e. not mine, thank God!) so the character is really a composite of real life, Lady Macbeths. Cousin Katy was taken from a fourteen year old girl on my daughter's basketball team who was the sweetest smile in the world and is forever dribbling the ball out of bounds. This is an example of what I meant by creating fun/silly/goofy characters who carry the plot off in a totally unexpected direction. Uncler Ned lends some seriousness to the otherwise ridiculous plot.
