First off, I LOVE shooting (arrows and lead).

I, too, share the writer's frustration about ignorance of guns and their role
in our society. I also agree with other's comments about false dichotomy. This
articulate young man is definitely confusing apples for oranges. This is not
his fault. The fault lies squarely at the door of the gun industry's #1
lobbying organization, the NRA. When I was young in 60s and 70s I was a proud
supporter of the NRA. They were the ones that we all turned to for
certification, education and even advocacy for the wonderful sport of
shooting-many of the education efforts the writer encourages. Not so anymore.

I would encourage the return to (real) black powder and traditional archery.
But then again I'm a certified traditionalist. But again, hunters are not the
problem, any more than biathletes. Fight the real problem-the money grubbing
gun industry and its mouthpiece, the modern NRA.
