My Two Cents, CA

My family all lives in the same city, I don’t. They have a family thread that
drives me crazy with all sorts of inane musings. I get on and off but
sometimes wish I could find that same joy they have at staying so connected
all the time. I wonder if part of this is that I have become more
Americanizada by having moved away.

Skim-coat PLASTER right over over them!!! (If you want a smooth wall).
Removing them and putting drywall is the DUMBEST idea on here. Drywall molds,
sometimes is a health hazard right of the bat (Chinese drywall), is not as
good insulation wise or sound wise and isn't as durable.
Gypsum plaster is a ""Green"" natural product. Keeps rooms warm in winter cold
in summer.
Skimcoating with gypsum plaster over brick, stone, masonry etc. has been going
on for thousands of years.
Right now in India they skim-coat over ciderblock walls on new construction.
No truckloads of drywall. Bags and water. No cut-offs filling up dumpsters and
landfils. No dumpster needed at all because you rip nothing out and have no
waste besides paper bags.

Cement and cinder block basements can be skim-coated with plaster.
