Thanks for taking the time to read the poems. As much as poetry is best left to the reader to interpret in a manner that reflects where they are at a particular point, I would like to think that with this piece it is not so much that she was never there or that he left but rather that 2 people in love just did not find a common way of expressing affection for each other and at the risk of losing one another choose to do so.

The sadness of your poem reminds me of Philip Carey, the hero of OF HUMAN BONDAGE, which I am currently reading. One-sided love is so painful. You wrote it well.
