"he climbed to the hard packed cone where the fence had been then with a bound cleared the tiny remnant of chain link protruding from the top and leapt down the other side into the forest. He was free. Caught from the wild he had all his instincts intact and he was hungry. His coat was superb camouflage for he was white with black stripes and he moved silently over the snow.
His first kill was a sheltering hare lying on the surface in its form in grass that had been exposed by the wind. It died quickly with one bite from those huge jaws. But a hare was not sufficient for this giant killing machine, a mere snack.."
