a totem is psychologically healthy because it can protect you and support you. For example you can soar with your totem if it is a bird, you can sing with it if it is a song bird , you can run with it if it is a horse, you can swim with it if it is a fish or a dolphin, you can be strong with it if it is a bear.

yes its time for migration. geese are arriving here from Iceland and Greenland ; a lot will go on down to southern Scotland and parts of England for the winter.

no, each book is priced very low, under 2 euros ;I want people with little money to be able to read them and really I have not sold that many . Most writers are poor financially. They write because they have to .

Yes that's true. In 2 years I have only earned $80 before taxes here in bookrix but it's better now because I try to promote my book several times every day. My goal is to write a lot of books since I see that all my books sold. Well let's see.

Good luck with that. The life of a writer can be difficult, the reward is in the process.

The story and fiction have many roles - to take you out of yourself and your world, to entertain, to provide humour, to connect you with the human journey, to explore alternate worlds, to record and pass on the experience of the tribe, but there is also a crucial role and that is, by following the threads, by reliving the emotions of others you gain understanding of your own emotions and feelings and can achieve a healing.
In our time, symbolised by the destruction of the Amazon rainforest, technology, societal change and the pace of life threaten us with further dislocations, and the loss of the accompanying emotional threads, not only from our ancestral past but our recent past too – we need the story more than ever.

Other reasons for the story;
To record
To entertain.
To integrate new experiences into the collective mind set
Maintaining the language when it is being eroded (minority languages, dialects)
Introducing new words or concepts.
To transmit cultural values; taboos, ethics, to transmit an understanding of skilful or unskilful behaviour
To challenge accepted perceptions, beliefs
To articulate what others are feeling .
To raise awareness
To reflect your time
To celebrate life
To work with the magic around us, the parallel universes.
To work shamanistically, to connect this world with the other , to play with time and distance , to travel in time ,to speak across time

As writing was discovered this magic quality remained - the history of writing tells us that initially only certain people had the knowledge , (cf my story Druid ), a certain class ; scribes, priests, nuns. Writing was carved in stone ,(Egypt) laboriously hand written and illustrated. Today it is different. The writer is one of many, many voices and has to compete ( and sometimes cross relate ) with many media, film, tv, YouTube, blogs. Coupled with this is the ephemerality of the electronic age, impermanence, yet there is liberation -the gate keepers have been removed .
Also a story can reach you in a few seconds via ebook, film,etc.

triggers ; emotional, eventful, artificial, experiential, reflective, descriptive
should your writing have an impact, inner intensity that is utterly compelling? sometimes ,sometimes not.
writer as observer ; standing to one side cf Pierre in War and Peace; use notebook ,make studies make, mind map plots, copy down conversations you overhear , study speech patterns, turn of phrase. Try to reach heightened awareness of narrative form around you. Record fragments for later use, incorporation.
Put yourself in the shoes of others , feel what they feel, see it from their point of view.
