Cotton curtains hung in the kitchen
With lines drawn on her face
Angry words were never spoken
Where bitter resent remains
She scolds the children, to let her toil
Yet cries alone, afraid
Trapped in the solitude of choices
Her self-righteous life proclaimed
Held hidden sorrows for too long
In her façade of strength
Only planted seeds of hatred
When bitter lies were learned too late
Dear lady, confused in time
Recalled her own torment
And thought twice to reveal the lie
To protect the innocent
