As an intro to myself, I am a long time writer. I've been writing since the age of 16 (I'm 44 now) but will be the first to tell you that my writing wasn't worth a you know what until perhaps my mid-30s.
Learning to write - it's an occupation in and of itself. Over the years, I have written for car magazines (I'm an old car nut!) postage stamp publications (I'm an old stamp nut!) and spent ten years writing for local newspapers, including sports reporting.
I would say writing 'professionally' is what made me a much better writer, especially since in the small paper biz I was often my own editor.
I'm not saying young writers must report to the nearest newspaper office; it just worked in my case and wouldn't be a bad idea... There's nothing like having a couple thousand people critique your work in the real world.
At any rate, I have published via BookRix a collection of six stories dubbed "No Longer Safe and other dark stories". Please check it out. The stories deal with death, murder and crime, so it's probably not the best pick for a kid. I come from a violent background, so my stories tend to be grim. There - I snuck in a little bit more about myself! Might as well throw in the fact I have zero formal education past high school - and that includes no learnin' how to string them there words together through workshops, college, scholarship, or Ivy League School of Creative Writing.
I hope this post will suffice to acquaint you with me. I'm not much of a social media type, so it if takes days to hear back from me, it's not meant to be a slight, I just haven't been near a computer since last post.
