Hi, stu. You probably don't know me. I'm a part-time writer who very much enjoys using this site to help me make my books better. I know that L Avery can be harsh, but she says the words that people need to hear. I know that she takes critiquing very seriously, and really wants to help others better their books. Hi, stu. You probably don't know me. I'm a part-time writer who very much enjoys using this site to help me make my books better. I know that L Avery can be harsh, but she says the words that people need to hear. I know that she takes critiquing very seriously, and really wants to help others better their books. She's not one of those people who run around singing the praises of every single person who can make a coherent sentence.
I understand that you probably poured your heart and soul into your book. Every writer does, and that is what gives a book some potential. First drafts are simply that: drafts. You can't expect to have the next best-seller on your hands after a few mild (or even harsh) edits. You have to hack and slash and basically destroy everything in the book, pick up the pieces, put them together, and if they still don't fit well, repeat the process.
I have never seen Avery purposefully criticize anyone's book out of spite, or because she's in a bad mood, or anything like that. She's real nice.
Could she tone it down a little sometimes? Yes. But beating around the bush isn't what this site is about. People come here for reads, reviews, and help making their book better. Maybe Bookrix should advertise that, but I always assumed that was a given.
I hope you take the time to reconsider your decision before you do something that will haunt you, L Avery Brown, Bookrix, and young writers like me who need people like L Avery to tell us what is wrong with our book and how to fix it. Publishing companies are easier to access/ sell manuscripts to when your book becomes a polished gem. Even diamond aren't perfect at first, they need to be CUT, Sharpened, SANDED, and POLISHED by a gem specialist before they go and get set into a ring or pendant.
Consider Bookrix to be the place where diamonds are cut, and your fellow Bookrixers as fellow gem-cutters. We all have our own techniques and methods to produce the final gemstones, but pulling together and helping each other out with our weakest links makes the entire Bookrix crew better as a whole, enabling us to produce the most sterling gems this world has ever seen.
May God bless you and counsel you in this time,
Geordi.
God Bless again. Stu. I know what to do but L Avery abused me verbally... Stu.
Stuart, Keep at it. Avery tore my last story apart, but in the end It was a much better story. It is hard to take that kind of criticism, but sometimes that is just what we need as authors.
By the way, we take what we need from criticism. Some times we just need to let the... mehr anzeigen
Stuart, Keep at it. Avery tore my last story apart, but in the end It was a much better story. It is hard to take that kind of criticism, but sometimes that is just what we need as authors.
By the way, we take what we need from criticism. Some times we just need to let the critics know what we were thinking when we wrote what we wrote.
If we can't make them understand then it is hard to make others understand. Once they understand what we are trying to get at, then we can start to work together to make the story say what we really wanted it to say.

Hey. Thanks much. I have been hard at it since Saturday. I will finish the edit sometime later this week. I eliminated a bunch off the end of the book and plan to make the end part much smaller leading to the conclusion. Once the edit is finished with one attempt then I will go after it again and then possibly a third time to either add or leave it in regards to the story. I have taken care of many grammar issues already. It is starting to make more sense now. I will have it downloaded again but not until maybe sometime next week. I will continue to let you know of my progress and some advice if possible. I got rid of the page numbers also. Have a good week this week. I will be in touch. Thanks again...Stu.....
