The surcease of school is a joyous time. Children spill from the school heading off in different direction like ants out of a destroyed ant pile,in search of their mothers or older siblings here to walk them home. The bright sun casts iridescent shadows across the arched windows and rain puddles from last night's storm. This is the scenery of the elementary schoolhouse. Further down the block are the middle schools where older kids amble around. You might think that they'd rush home to taste the fresh-baked bread from their mothers or to have respite from all the mathematics and literature but no, here the stay, conversing. The teens show obeisance to the teachers leaving the school grounds while I notice the elementary students do not. I've pondered about this quite some time. What makes the school so different? Perhaps the middle school students are more mature than i would assume. Even so, I still see multiple similarities between the two. I've shared my thoughts and observations with many others leaving them contemplating the idea. Are we that different? Or are we so alike we don't even notice?
