Hello, Serious Writers.
I know I've not been around a lot but I do pop in from time to time to see what's going on. Also, I like to clean up the main thread line where people post promotions and advertisements. Hello, Serious Writers.
I know I've not been around a lot but I do pop in from time to time to see what's going on. Also, I like to clean up the main thread line where people post promotions and advertisements. Typically, I do this by informing the person who issued the post <why> the post has been deleted while letting them know that they are more than welcomed to repost in the proper thread.
And that, as they say, is that. Usually.
However, today I came across a post that caught my attention as a moderator for all the wrong reasons.
The post has been deleted. However, I felt it important enough to spotlight the content of the message:

Self-Publishing, Blockchain For Books, Publica.io?
By: Aiden.Schlunke
Hello
I have heard about the blockchain in publishing before and I was kinda scared of it but after doing a bit of a research I changed my mind – the technology might help to create more open environment for writers. As I know there is a start-up called Publica.io and they want to develop usage of blockchain in industry. To be honest, now it sounds like they are going to build a new world but by knowing how technologies are moving forward, it would be awesome! And what’s good, they have a community forum, where they post useful info about blockchain and other topics connected with it:
https://community.publica.io
I would like to hear your opinions :)

While we do not discourage members from discussing or suggesting to others that there is a new site out there that might help them along their writing journey we do try to protect not only our members from becoming involved in publishing ventures that seem too good to be true but also the reputation of BookRix.com as one of the only middle-man sites that offer a true community atmosphere for novice and experienced writers which also never pressures its members into publishing for profit.
After reading Mr. Schlunke's comment, I did check up on publica.io and learned that it not only has no credentials in the world of publishing but it is not even up and running. What's more, it will not be 'public' until October 15 when a Crowdsale is scheduled to begin.
Further, after visiting his profile page here at BookRix.com and seeing that he has neither written anything for the community to read nor has he added any books to his book list -it was my conclusion that the intent of the comment was to bait Serious Writer members into getting involved with Publica by making them think 'blockchain' publishing is the wave of the publishing industry.
Our members are savvy enough to see things for what they are. Likewise, they know that success in the world of publishing, be it with a house or as an independent author, is not as simple as buying into the Blockchain industry. BookRix.com is not a cottage industry. It has a decade of positive results behind it.
*Blockchain is also referred to as digital coin/Bitcoin/Ethereum
As I said, I wanted to share this with the community because I don't want anyone to get sucked into something that is untested.
