My take: Making citizens show an ID to vote is unconstitutional. A government
ID costs $30. This constitutes a poll tax. The 24th Amendment prohibits poll
taxes.

A stretch? Perhaps. But note this; The 24th Amendment was ratified because
some states – mostly in the South – were finding ways to circumvent the 15th
Amendment.

As per the Pew Research Center: ""Poll taxes were among the devices used by
Southern states to restrict African Americans (as well as poor whites, Native
Americans and other marginalized populations) from voting.""

It is not a stretch to say the intent of Kobach is the same as those in the
state's in question. Keep the poor and marginalized from participating in
America.

There's surprising little the police can do to force elderly to accept
treatment, unless their unattended stove is causing a fire right now. Perhaps
this is at it ought to be to prevent officers from exercising their all too
numerous biases.
APS also seems to have a pretty high threshold, in my experience. I wonder if
the landlord could just refuse to renew the lease.
I would gather the relative appears hostile to the landlord's suggestions
because she's already run through them ad nauseam with the man, and thinks
""duh"" while the landlord tries to be helpful. I've now accepted that my Mom
simply can't be reasoned with and to not counter anything she says. But when
that diminished capacity first becomes apparent, it's hard not to try, because
not too long before you could, leading to frustration all around.
Unfortunately, the tenant is too far gone to have any insight into his
condition or what to do about it.
