Dr. George Milbry Gould (1848-1922) was an ophthalmologist, the first president of the Medical Library Association, and an active writer and editor. Over the course of his career he compiled medical dictionaries and edited the Philadelphia Medical Journal, American Medicine and Medical News.


Dr. Walter Lytle Pyle (1871- 1921) was an ophthalmic surgeon, member of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania State Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the American Ophthalmological Society and a fellow of the American Academy of Medicine. He wrote contributions to their various publications and served as editor of “The International Medical Magazine” and “A System of Ophthalmic Practice.”
