Why would anyone of integrity, anyone who respects the rule of law, anyone who
values his or her personal or professional reputation even consider working in
this White House?
This is a president who demonstrably lies to the American public fives times a
day and who demands that everyone in his administration do the same. This is a
president who doesn't think twice about asking White House counsel, someone
sworn to defend the office of the presidency rather than the person who holds
it, to lie about matters on which he's just given sworn testimony--and in the
shadow of others indicted for their lies. This is a president who berates even
the most fiercely loyal of his associates when they decline to lie on oath or
otherwise break the law for him and who doesn't think twice about doing so
publicly or calling them Mr. Magoo.
This is also a president who demonstrably values one-way loyalty over
competence. What other president has put golf caddies, body guards, wedding
planners, TV wrestling magnates, third-rate fringe economists and others of
such dubious competence into positions of governmental power? What other
president has filled his administration with so many folks with a history of
racist remarks, so many so willing to bend the rules for personal gain, so
many whose pasts are so tangled and messy they still cannot get security
clearances fourteen months in?
